Once, in the time of Aavikk, it was believed that at the center of the world lived the great Mother Wyrm. She writhed and turned, hungry for food, but the only food which she could find was her own tail. Churning in the earth she chases it, her hunger growing more and more by the day, hour, and minute.
Magic in this world is ambition made manifest. Whether it be hunger, fear, or passion, magic appears when creatures or people feel yearning the most, and none feel yearning as strong as the Wyrm.
The people of Aavikk believed that her hunger made manifest some of the most powerful magic in this world: creating Dragons in her image, with her same hunger. But, one of their more interesting theories is that the Great Wyrm wants so badly for the food she chases that she has ripped holes in the world itself, sundered the very fabric of reality to reach her destination faster. Some of the last documents of their civilization lists attempts to avert a spell like this, and concentrate it here. I wonder what may lay on the other side?
